DESCRIPTION

The hike begins at Maroços, a small village near Machico, where visitors can enjoy the traditional Madeiran architecture and take in the peaceful atmosphere. The path follows a levada, a water channel built to irrigate local agricultural land, and takes hikers through a lush forest with various plant species, such as mimosa trees, wildflowers, and ferns.
As hikers progress along the trail, they will come across several impressive tunnels and bridges that were built to provide access to the levada. These structures are an impressive feat of engineering and add to the charm of the walk.
The trail is relatively easy to walk, and visitors can take their time to admire the various plants and flowers along the way. Birdwatchers may also spot some of the local bird species, such as the Madeiran Firecrest or the Canary.
As the hike nears its end, hikers will come across a stunning viewpoint that offers a panoramic view of Machico and the surrounding mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. This viewpoint is an excellent spot to take a break, take some photos, and enjoy the scenic beauty of Madeira Island.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

• We are not be responsible for any valuables left in the vehicle;
• Pick up outside of Funchal / Caniço – extra fee (fuel tax) – contact us;
• For cancellation less than 24 hours prior to the reserved time, 50% of the reservation value is charged;
• Children with ages between 0 - 12 years old, shall pay only 50% (half) of the total per tour. This fee will not be commissionable by the agencies or representatives;
• In order to warrant the safety and wellbeing of the clients (single or groups), they need to comply to the instructions given previously or during the tour by the Driver or Tour Leader, when such;
• Customers give all rights to Green Devil Safari, for audiovisual during the tour for advertisement / promotional;
• For your own safety, Green Devil Safari may change, postpone or cancel the walks with short notice. This will only happen due to adverse weather conditions, landsliding or other reasons beyond or control;
• Should you need to cancel your reservation, you will only be refunded, should your cancellation be made at least until 16h00 of the previous day of the tour/walk;
• Please prepare yourself with good walking shoes/boots and a warm coat (in case of low temperatures in the mountains);
• For full day walk, please pack a pic nic and water to take along, as such is not provided by Green Devil Safari.
